Home / Neighborhood Guide / RBS Gimmel 1 (Kiryat Avi Ezri)

Ramat Shilo

An established Lakewood-style neighborhood with spacious streets, strong kehillos, and direct park access. RBS Gimmel 1 contains more than 3,000 homes and was planned with wide streets, open plazas, and comparatively low residential density. It is known for a strong Yeshivish Torah atmosphere and an active Anglo population, supported by neighborhood shuls, local commerce, and direct access to Yarmut Park. The neighborhood’s scale allows it to support schools, shuls, commerce, and recreation internally while retaining a more open physical plan than older high-density areas. For many families, that combination provides both ideological fit and day-to-day practicality.

Education

Schools within Gimmel 1 reflect the area’s Anglo-Yeshivish character and offer Torah-centered programs for boys and girls.

The local school network is closely aligned with the community’s Torah-centered expectations. Having boys’ and girls’ institutions within the neighborhood also reduces commuting and helps school life remain connected to the same families and kehillos residents encounter on Shabbos.

Synagogues and community life

The neighborhood’s English-speaking kehillos are a major draw, with extensive schedules of prayer, Torah study, and communal programming. English-speaking rabbinic leadership and full daily schedules make the kehillos especially accessible to Anglo families. The variety of shuls still allows residents to choose between smaller communities, central institutions, and flexible shtiebel-style minyanim.

Shopping and services

The local Mercaz includes a grocery store, bakery, pizza shop, butcher, and hardware store.

The neighborhood Mercaz covers the errands families handle most often, from groceries and prepared food to household supplies. Larger shopping trips may still lead elsewhere, but routine life can remain largely local.

Parks and recreation

Wide sidewalks, illuminated play areas, green plazas, and immediate access to a major regional park make outdoor space a defining feature. Gimmel 1’s generous public realm is a meaningful part of its identity. Yarmut Park extends the neighborhood’s recreational reach, while local plazas, sidewalks, and playgrounds make outdoor activity part of ordinary family life.

Mishkenot Yaakov

Mishkenot Yaakov places residents at the busiest and most convenient point of RBS Aleph. This compact Yeshivish enclave is best known for immediate access to the Merkaz, public transportation, established schools, and a dense network of minyanim and Torah learning.

M3 (Mem Shalosh)

M3 offers a quieter, more spacious alternative to the denser centers of Ramat Beit Shemesh. Larger homes, a primarily American Yeshivish population, and an open valley-edge setting give the neighborhood a suburban feel while keeping the services of Aleph and Gimmel close at hand.

Mishkafayim

Mishkafayim is a small, upscale ridge community for families who value newer construction, lower density, and wide views. Although primarily residential, it remains closely connected to the schools, shopping, health services, and parks of greater RBS Aleph.
